Note:
This is a quick evaluation activity. It can be used at the end of a day during a multi-day workshop to understand what’s working and what isn’t, in order to improve the following day. It would be inadvisable to use this activity as a final evaluation for a multi-day workshop. The idea is to get an understanding of how it’s going, and have an opportunity to make necessary adaptations for the following day.
Aim:
To evaluate the workshop
Time:
5 to 10 minutes
Participants:
Any number
Materials:
- A few sticky notes for each participant
- A pencil for each participant
- A flip chart, prepared beforehand by the facilitator
Procedure:
I) Prepare a flip chart. Draw a horizontal line across the middle, and on the upper part write “keep” and on the lower “revise”.
II) Hand out 2 or 3 sticky notes and pencils to each participant.
III) Assign the task:
- “Think back to today’s training session and on each sticky note write one thing you liked and would keep for tomorrow, and one thing you didn't like and would like to change for tomorrow. Then place each sticky note with positive comments on the upper part of the flip chart, and each one with negative comments on the lower part of the page.”
Assign five minutes for individual work.
IV) Later, after completion of the day’s activities, review participants’ comments and apply the necessary changes accordingly, when possible.
